The Regimen: Furtuna Skin’s Agatha Relota Luczo
Considering her start at sixteen modeling for brands like Chanel and Thierry Mugler, beauty has been Agatha Relota Luczo’s business for some time, but it wasn’t until she became a mother that she questioned the safety of what she had been using. The organic plants produced on the Sicilian farm she operates with her husband offered a natural solution, and ultimately became Furtuna Skin - the brand she launched in 2019 with industry vet Kim Walls. Agatha caught up with us on her skincare routine, the French beauty product she has reinvented, and her morning olive oil ritual.
Name: Agatha Relota Luczo
Profession: International model, olive oil sommelier, and the founder and Chief Creative Officer of Furtuna Skin.
Current Location: Paris, France
What attracted you to the beauty industry?
I fell in love with beauty through being in fashion. I started modeling when I was 16 and worked with some of the best makeup artists in the world that were incredible at taking care of the skin. I got to try so many products and see their tricks and tips.
What inspired you to make the shift from beauty consumer to brand founder?
My husband and I started our farm in Sicily thirteen and a half years ago. We have a resident botanist there, Dr. Pasquale M. Marino, who looks after the farm and has discovered over 500 different flora and herbs on the farm and 80 medicinal plants. Our tagline is “wildly potent”, but it really is - when you have a super potent flower or plant it's just beyond anything else on the market. With my first pregnancy I realized I couldn’t use any of my skincare products and began looking for a line that was good for you and actually worked. I met Kim Walls, my cofounder, and Furtuna Skin was born.
What beauty or wellness tips did you take away from your modeling days that you use now?
Our Acqua Serena Micellar Essence! Back in the day, micellar water was only available in France, and I always thought it was the secret to French beauty. But there hasn’t been much innovation around it (until ours!). Most of them are made with coconut surfactants, but ours is based on an olive surfactant. It is infused with olive leaf water from the farm and wild Anchusa Azurea flower, which has the highest amount of antioxidants of any edible plant in the mediterranean.

As a mom of four, what do you hope to pass down to the next generation when it comes to wellness?
Tradition and thinking about the next generation is so important to my husband and I - even starting with the farm in Sicily, which was where his grandmother was born. Taking care of the local community, like with our scholarship program, is really important. What I really want them to learn is the importance of thinking about others. If they start a business how is it going to affect the environment and the community?
Outside of that, my daughter is already using Furtuna Skin. They love doing a shot of olive oil every morning, that is our little ritual. They are always asking about the ingredients in things and if it's good for them to put on their skin because they already know that it gets absorbed into their bodies.
Who would you give furtuna to?
I'm so grateful for everyone who has tried it, from Hailey Beiber to all of the celebrity makeup artists. But I’d have to say Oprah Winfrey.
Walk me through your beauty routine starting in the morning.
I like to use the Acqua Serena Micellar Essence in the morning followed by the Porte Per La Vitalita Face and Eye Serum, Perla Brillante Daily Renewal Cream, and Visione Di Luce Eye Revitalizing Cream and then tap on our Due Alberi Biphase Moisturizing Oil to finish it off. I’ll use that on the ends of my hair sometimes, too.

I use RMS Beauty's Luminzer in shade Livingluminizer to create a subtle highlight on the high points of my face and their "Un" Cover-Up in shade 00 under my eyes. Sometimes I’ll mix our biphase oil with Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Complexion Drops to make my own tinted oil.

Westman Atelier's Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer warms up my face in a subtle way, and I also like Westman Atelier's Baby Cheeks Blush Stick in Chouchette. I've recently started using their Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm in Garconne - it is so hydrating. I usually finish my look with Westman Atelier's Eye Love You Mascara, which adds some volume to my lashes.

To avoid drying out my skin, I try to be efficient in the shower. I love using the Goop Beauty G.Tox 5 Salt Detox Body Scrub a few times a week. I follow with Goop Beauty GOOPGENES Nourishing Repair Body Butter.

At the end of the day I’ve been using our new Cleansing Oil Balm. It is really hydrating and doesn’t strip but really removes makeup and cleans. It goes from a milk to a bit of a lather. I will follow with the Acqua Serena Micellar Essence because it works as a toner too and is so healing. At night I swap in our Fior di Luna Nightly Renewal Cream and our Rinascita Delle Olive Replenishing Balm a few times a week. I was skiing this past week and used the balm in the morning too, because it was so dry.

What other ways do you incorporate beauty/ wellness into your everyday life?
Now that I am an olive oil sommelier, I really incorporate it into everything I can because I’m just so much more knowledgeable about it. I start every day with a shot of olive oil on an empty stomach followed by warm water. Throughout the day I use it as a hair mask, in baking and while cooking.
Is there a treatment that has been life changing for you? Like brow or lash tinting, an injectable, a particular facialist, etc.
David Mallet offers a scalp massage that I get every time I go to get my hair done at his salon. I absolutely love that. I started using a redlight mask once a week and have noticed a difference. It's just a nice opportunity to take 10 minutes for yourself.
If you had to pick one desert island product from Furtuna, what would it be and why?
The Rinascita Delle Olive Replenishing Balm is in my bag at all times - I can use it on my lips as well as face. In the summer it is great to repair the skin after being in the sun. The biphase oil I would have to pick too, I can’t live without it.
How has your routine changed from five years ago? Is there a product you wish you knew about then?
I wish I had the cleansing balm five years ago. Back then I was testing all of these products that would become Furtuna Skin and so now things are a lot more simplified.
