Lifelong skincare aficionado and model Andre Condit studied at the Institute of Cosmetic Science in Australia to create the ultimate products for the most discerning skincare fanatics. After almost a decade of refining the formula, he joined ranks with lauded beauty editor Olivia Falcon, and before long the brand was on the lips of A-listers, surgeons, aestheticians, and editors. With an ingredient line-up including encapsulated retinol, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and more, the buzzy new Spectacle Performance Crème is a one-step wonder for every skincare regimen.
Brand Name: Spectacle Skincare
Founders: Andre Condit & Olivia Falcon
Date founded: Earth Day, 2021
What was the first product you developed, and why did you create it?
Spectacle Performance Crème is the centerpiece product for Spectacle Skincare. I approached the formulation process as if I could only have one product the rest of my life. What would I need to ensure the longevity and lifespan of my skin? A true desert island formula that delivers a complete blend of skincare's most vital components in one product, and it fits seamlessly into anyone's daily beauty regime.
What was the inspiration for Spectacle?
To create skincare that delivers striking performance with noticeable visual impact.
What is the brand philosophy?
To produce environmentally conscious products that serve your skin, with minimal disruption to the environment.
Why do you think Spectacle Performance Crème is so successful?
Spectacle Performance Crème provides the skin with everything it needs and nothing it doesn’t, as well as simplifying your daily skincare regime. It consolidates a serum, moisturizer, and primer into one product that delivers the most coveted ingredients in skincare today.
What makes the brand unique?
Spectacle Skincare marries the two worlds of luxury skincare and sustainability, pioneering a new category for the conscious consumer.
What's one surprising thing people might not know about the brand?
I’ve been working on the formula for Spectacle Performance Crème for several years. The current formula is our 9th revision that is now globally compliant with the strictest territories in the world.
What do you want people to think of when they think of your brand?
As a true Aquarian…an innovative, original brand that operates outside the box to deliver one of a kind products.
What was one of the biggest challenges you faced when you launched?
Working with all new sustainable materials—from our tube made from upcycled sawdust and sugarcane to the box constructed from post-consumer newspaper and hemp fiber—everything needed to be put through rigorous testing in different extreme environments to guarantee safety and compatibility with our formula. This was all done during the height of the pandemic with minimal communication between parties and a disrupted supply chain. This led to many sleepless nights wondering if any of it was going to work! Thankfully, we passed all testing and were able to successfully launch on Earth Day, 2021.
How did you know you'd made it as a brand?
We have a lot that we still want to accomplish, but becoming retail partners with SHEN Beauty stands out as a major milestone for us.
What is your proudest moment as a founder?
Being nominated and winning Best Sustainable Packaging in Skincare and Best Moisturizer for Aging Skin by Marie Claire UK. As well as the many endorsements we’ve received from top doctors from around the world!
What can we expect from the brand in the future? Any exciting news you can share?
Everything is top secret for now, but rest assured we have some great innovations on the horizon.
Why did you decide to launch this brand?
We felt there was an opportunity in the market palace to incubate and bring to life new ideas and concepts for the future of sustainable beauty.
I’ve always been fascinated with the concept of transformation. My earliest memory as a child is spending hours in my parent's bathroom, touching and playing with their precious creams and potions that felt like magic in their shiny gold jars, and secretly sneaking them in my backpack to take to school. In case, the 8-year-old me needed a reapplication of eye cream! My parents would have killed me, but I didn’t care, I was obsessed. That obsession has carried over into every detail and aspect of Spectacle Skincare.
What has been your biggest struggle as a founder?
My favorite quote I heard recently from a fellow entrepreneur was “No one's going to believe in you until you’ve already done it, nobody’s going to come to celebrate with you until you’ve already done it. Which means you're going to have to work a long time by yourself, with no applause, with no awards, and nobody telling you good job.” That sums it up for me.
