Gifting Tips and Tricks with Editor Lisa Potter
We last caught up with Lisa Potter in March, when the editor at
DailyMail.com and TV correspondent shared her career path, beauty philosophy (skincare is everything!), and how she leans into self care. For the winter season, we asked the oh-so-chic Lisa how she plans to tackle her holiday gift list and the changes she makes to her routine to ensure she stays hydrated and glowing.
Who are you excited to shop for this holiday season and what do you plan to give them?
My go-to gift for my mum is always a rich moisturizer, this year I have my eye on Augustinus Bader’s Soothing Cream. I learned the importance of a dedicated night-time skincare regime from her, too, so I know she would appreciate this intense overnight BYNACT signature Cream.
My sister loves vegan products so I think she would like Venn’s Probiotics Cica Complex Biome Booster.
My girlfriends and I have a tradition of buying each other a treatment to use before a big event or when we need some R&R. Enter the Glow + Go facial for 60 minutes of heaven - with results that last long after!
For my partner Matt, maybe I can get away with pretending these beautiful Moroccan Ceramic Speckled Vases are for him instead of for both of us to enjoy at home! This woody, rich scent from The Maker would also be a lovely stocking filler for him.

Gifting beauty products can be tricky - do you have any suggestions for products that are always a hit?
Gift giving is sort of like an art form, because beauty products can be quite individually tailored preferences and you don’t want your well-intended purchase to look like a subtle hint! That being said, often little luxurious presents cause the most excitement. Call me old fashioned but I don’t think you can go wrong with a hand cream, a chic cashmere sweater, an all-round beauty gift box, a bottle of Champagne, or an elegant candle.
We totally agree that candles are such an easy, sure-to-please gift. Which ones do you have your eye on?
Candles are perfect for showing gratitude to a holiday party hostess. They’re thoughtful, feel indulgent and can be enjoyed straight away. Plus these come in beautiful packaging, looking just as good as they smell:
L'Or De Seraphine Enchanted Forest, Váhy Desert Nomad , Piecework Fire for One, Costa Brazil Vela - Jungle Candle
What products do you have on your wishlist this year (Santa, take note)?
Matt knows how much I like my ‘potions’ as he calls them, so hopefully Jess guides him to these which are top of my wish list:
Supernal’s Illumine Restorative Oil Serum, Byredo Eau de Parfum: Vanille Antique, Environ Electro-Sonic DF Mobile, Furtnua Fior di Luna Nightly Renewal Cream.
I’d also love for Santa to work his magic and get me a coveted spot with eyebrow-extraordinaire Josh to structure mine with his signature Multeye microblading service.
How does your skin and hair change in the winter, and how do you tweak your routine to deal with it?
NYC winters are so harsh on your skin, so I need lots of ultra-hydrating products. I’m a retinol fan but during the colder months I stick to the softer, but no-less potent, IGNAE Rich Night Serum.
For daytime I’m forever striving for a more youthful complexion with the help of Dr Barbara Sturm’s Super Anti-Aging Serum, SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic, and to top it all off MBR CEA City & Sky.
I have curly and wavy hair that dries out even more in winter, so I focus on products that can smooth and nourish. My everyday essential is Oribe’s Gold Lust Hair Oil but for my weekly mask I like Christophe Robin’s Thermal Mud to repair damage and purify the scalp.
New York winters can be brutal - what are your handbag essentials for keeping chapped skin away?
This Byredo tube is perfect for throwing into my purse to hydrate frozen hands, and with fresh notes of Bergamot and velvet plum, it smells divine too. For my chapped lips I love this soothing little Leland Francis Balm with shea butter that helps moisturize the eye area too.
What is your go-to makeup for a glam holiday party look?
For Holiday parties my makeup routine is mostly Westman Atelier. I apply their dewy Complexion Drops with a Liquid Blender Brush, followed by the rouge perfection that is Baby Cheeks Blush Stick and Face Trace Contour Stick.
For festive eyes I love Róen: I go for the shimmery 75 Warm Palette and the pièce de résistance, some black Cake Mascara.
Do you have any tips on embracing a cozy night in?
Cold, cozy nights see me dedicating more time to at-home spa moments so I’m shopping for bathing pleasures (any excuse, really) like Goop’s Martini Bath Salts or their G.Tox Body Scrub.
