We chatted with Reflekt’s founder on the importance of twice-daily exfoliation and hydration for maximum results, her thoughts about launching at SHEN, and the beautiful sentiment behind the brand’s charitable arm.

Tell us about the origins of Reflekt and why you launched with a unique 3-step system?
I had discovered that a routine with twice-daily exfoliation and deep hydration was the absolute key to amazing skin. So when conceiving of Reflekt, I knew that exfoliation and hydration had to be at our core. The fact that our three product lineup and routine is simple is absolutely intentional; I truly believe that skincare shouldn't have to be complicated to have a transformative effect.
Share with us Reflekt’s unique point of difference?
Our real point of difference is that we always prioritize exfoliation, coupled with hydration (so that skin's barrier function is protected), at every step of our skincare routine. How each product exfoliates is different—in Reflekt 1 you have our amazing smooth Jojoba Ester Beads and then in Reflekt 2 and 3, you'll find The Reflekt Complex, which is our signature blend of fruit enzymes with natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs). But the end result is the same with all three: smoother, brighter, and clearer skin.
Your brand is focused on the transformative power of skincare. Walk us through the best way to use your wash, serum, and face cream for optimal results?
To see the most dramatic results, consistency is essential. Our signature Reflekt 1 Daily Exfoliating Face Wash is gentle enough to use morning and night—in the morning it creates a smooth canvas for makeup (if that's your thing) and in the evening it swiftly removes oil, dirt and dead skin cells. After cleansing with Reflekt 1, smooth on the Reflekt 2 Collagen Boost Vitamin C Refining Serum, morning and night, then finish with the Reflekt 3 Power Peptide Sculpting Cream to really lock in the moisture.
Do you have any personal favorite ways you like to use each product?
Every Reflekt product that I use on my face, I will also use on my décolleté. That skin area is so important to pay attention to and to treat with products that won't cause any irritation. I also use the products on my hands as they’ve really endured a lot after all the extra hand-washing the past two years.
Tell us about your beautiful cause Reflekt Abundance, and your partnership with WhyHunger.
It's so dear to my heart. I was very close to my mother (I actually chose to launch Reflekt on my parent's anniversary) and she had a lifelong commitment to feeding those in need. She was always volunteering at the local food bank in Milwaukee where I grew up, and food was a way for her to show love, so she was constantly cooking and baking for our family and friends. I always knew our brand had to have a charitable arm, so I chose to create Reflekt Abundance, which donates a portion of sales to WhyHunger, in my mom's honor.
What is one surprising thing people might not know about the brand?
Our unwavering commitment to sustainability. Regarding our ingredients, we follow the same super strict guidelines as Credo, which means we formulate without parabens, sulfates, SLS and SLES, phthalates, mineral oils, and formaldehyde. Our signature scent (which people are obsessed with) is also certified clean, too. And we bring that same sensibility to our packaging. Despite some retailers being confused by this decision, we have never used any exterior boxes and there is no extra plastic, and of course, all of our components are recyclable.
How did you feel about launching at SHEN?
All caps ECSTATIC. I was a beauty buyer, curating and branding for top facialists, before I was a beauty founder so I was already a huge fan of SHEN. I knew when I started Reflekt that I wanted my products to be there because of how incredibly thoughtful the curation is.
What can we expect from Reflekt in the future? Any exciting news you can share?
We're never going to be a brand that's pushing a crazy 12-step skincare routine; that's not part of our credo, and I think it's not what resonates with people nowadays. We always want to be very thoughtful with every product we launch and make sure it's answering a specific skincare need. With that in mind, we do have one exciting new launch on the horizon. It will be rooted in exfoliation and hydration as all our products are, but this gem will address not just one, but two, areas of the face that are notoriously challenging to treat without causing irritation. Cannot wait for SHEN customers to be able to get their hands on it!
